The GE EX2000 Firmware Board DS215UDSAG1AZZ01A features one 1 80196 microprocessor and several erasable programmable read-only memory (EPROM) modules. The GE EX2000 Firmware Board DS215UDSAG1AZZ01A also is populated with 21 4-character displays and 32 LEDs. The EPROM modules contain the instruction code and other code that the microprocessor uses to process information. Signal are received by the board through the signal cables attached to the board. The microprocessor processes the signals and transmits the new signals to other boards or device in the drive. Also, information about the board activity is displayed on the display modules and the LEDs also provide information. The operator can view the information while the drive is in operation from the drive board cabinet.
When the board is replaced, the best outcome is to have the replacement board operate the same as the board it is replacing. In that way, the drive can resume processing as before the replacement and the site will experience no other delays. One major concern is that the instruction code and firmware on the EPROM modules must be the same in the replacement board to enable the board to operate the same as the defective board. However, it is easy to move the modules from the EPROM sockets on the old board to the sockets on the replacement board. Insert a tool into the space between the module and the socket on one end. Then, lift up the tool to release the module. Repeat the action on the other end of the module. |
