The GE BDD15B11A is a transformer differential relay with percentage and harmonic restraint. It is used to protect transformers rated 2000 kVA and above and for transformers with windings rated 15 kV or above.
The BDD15B11A relay uses a combination of percentage and harmonic restraint to prevent operation due to external faults or circulating currents. If the differential current is greater than a certain percentage of the through current, the relay will operate. The harmonic restraint element measures the harmonic content of the differential current.
