It is a resistor-based unit that dissipates the energy generated by a motor during braking. This prevents the DC bus voltage from rising too high, which could damage the inverter.
The NBRA-669C has a maximum braking power of 375 kW for 30 seconds per minute. It can be used with 690V 3-phase inverters and has DC+ and DC- terminals for connection to the inverter’s DC bus. The chopper is also rated for IP00 enclosure, meaning it is not for use in environments with dust or water.
